If you love reds from Rhone and have not yet tried a Côte-Rôtie, do yourself a favor and change that now!
The syrah grown on the steep slopes of Côte-Rôtie has to be picked by hand—a tractor would keel over. Though the hills are difficult to farm, they offer optimal angles for grapes to ripen fully in the sun, and so the wines are rich with flavors of blackberry, black pepper, and smoke. Domaine Faury is one of the region’s artisanal producers. Their wines, while powerful, offer a liveliness and freshness not often found in the region.
This bottle stands up to the stinkiest of cheeses without overpowering the subtle notes.
